COURSE REVIEW: LEARNING TO WRITE MARKETING COPY

June, 2020

Course Review: Project

Earlier this quarter I became determined to expand my skillset by taking video courses in topics Im curious about, but know nothing on.

I took LinkedIn's "Learning to writer marketing copy" by Ian Lurie. At just under 2 hours, the course was short enough for me to complete during my lunch break. Mr. Lurie's expertise was evident and the course opened my eyes to the world of copywriting.

1. What I got out of the course
Learning the basics of copywriting was the main benefit of this course. I learned important terminology like collateral, and can now understand the differences in styles.

2. How I'm taking my learning back into my 9-5 job
My main role as a  software project manager does not require writing marketing copy, but it does require frequent writing. I also have to write succinctly and convince others to take certain courses of action. The LinkedIn course on copy-writing gave me several tools to create easy to read, effective text.

3. How this has inspired me
This course was a great first step in dipping my toes into the world of marketing and copywriting. The tools I acquired as part of this course will be part of solid foundation as a writer.
